cysa.pngArizona State University is partnering with the Chinese government-run web site, China.com.cn, to host the China Youth Space Academy. In this first-ever event, thousands of Chinese high school students compete to show their knowledge of space exploration subjects. The winners will come to the United States in January 2008 to join a group of Arizona high school students for a 10-day hands-on space exploration experience.

Welcome to Arizona State University (ASU).  It's truly an honor to host delegates from China and Nogales, Arizona.  I hope you find your visit enjoyable and very productive.

It was a privilege to represent ASU as a judge during the China Youth Space Academy competition in Beijing last November. I was so impressed with this important and unique program, and the incredible talent of all the participants.  The students I met demonstrated such strong enthusiasm for the science and engineering of space exploration.

We have a full agenda planned for your visit.  You'll be able to truly experience ASU, one of America's finest research institutions.  You'll see innovation in action as you visit with our faculty, staff and students.

I look forward to meeting you on your arrival.  Again, welcome to ASU.

Sincerely,

R.F. "Rick" Shangraw, Jr., Ph.D.
